Jess' Birthday

It was Jess's birthday.

Met up with Judie at Oakleigh Station, it's closer for both of us. Here are some of the prizes she won from an artist called Mall's competition, they're amaaaazing.
You can see more of them on Judie's blog here and visit Mall's site here.

We all got there a bit early so we could ambush Jess. It didn't exactly go as planned.
Oh and by "there" I mean the Botanical Gardens.

There's a nice shot of Cath. Imagine David Attenborough saying something along the lines of "And here we see Cathlene in her natural habitat.".
Here's the birthday girl.

We are so classy.Afterwards we just chilled in the park, played an interesting game. Can't remember the name though. And I won't try to explain it here since people who were actually there in person still didn't understand it. Look at these poor ducks. I'm not an expert on ponds but I'm pretty sure that can't be good for the ducks or whatever lives in the pond.

Pleasant surprise waiting for my when I got home.
Judie made us get home late, we took the wrong line and ended up in some weirdo suburb named Balaclava.

Moomba

My friend's friend had an exchange student in Melbourne so us being the nice people we are, decided to accompany them along to Moomba. I haven't been in years. The last time I went was probably when I was 9 or 10, fond memories as I won a giant Kermit doll.
Don't you feel sorry for her already? (the exchange student)

Obligatory shot of the Melbourne Central ceiling.
Went to grab dinner before we headed out to Moomba, at Nando's.
I'd already had dinner so I just swung by McDonald's for junk...I always buy cookies every time I visit Macca's, it's becoming a thing.

We lined up to ride this crazy thing; basically it just spins around a lot. It was pretty fun I guess, although most of the rides were way overpriced so I only went on one. Not a fan of theme park rides, I much prefer the food. Disappointingly, there wasn't anything too interesting in the way of snacks. Wish they had alligator burgers like last time.
Selina looks calm here but in reality she was shitting herself. She can't take rides.

Haha classic. I wish I could look this retarded.
Just kidding, I probably look worse just walking down the street.
Jess and Sannie didn't go on the ride with us; Wilson went to go look for 'em but they wandered off so they only arrived after we got on the ride.
D'oh.
Here's a nice picture of Wynne. Aren't I pleasant. Hah.

Classy.
After the ride we crossed the bridge to see if it was any more interesting on the other side. The grass wasn't too much greener.
Wilson and Caf went on this crazy ride, it was literally a pole that swung around in a circle. Upwards.

Check out these chicks behind Wilson and Caf. Talk about professional photo bombing LOL.
Actually it's extremely creepy. Who the heck poses for other people's photos?? I usually duck for cover, like behind a pole or something.
I heard Josh Pyke was playing on one of the nights; and heard music so I ran towards it. Unfortunately it was totally not Josh Pyke. Dagnabbit.
Check out his music, it's pretty good. He's an Aussie artist; here's one of my favourites of his.

Took a video of the fireworks by the Yarra. Surprisingly not terrible.
Afterwards most of the group went home. Joey, Selina and I stayed behind because we're sad and we really wanted corndogs. Oh and those two wanted the grey bear thingies.

In the end we didn't win anything and we couldn't even find corndogs. We settled for poffertjes. Turns out it's not as hard to pronounce as it looks. POF - ERT- JEZ. Poffertjes.
Black Jack is pretty rigged; what they do is give out a load of even numbers and a few odd numbers; you can't add up to 21 without an odd number. It was pretty depressing and money draining seeing people around you getting 21. Oh well.
Selina updated our failure on Facebook, because we all know that nothing actually happens unless it happened on Facebook.

Sorry for the long post, y'all. More to come! Or something.

Lucky Coq

So Selina and I met up to try and find a "spot" for our group to hang out. It was an interesting day to say the least.

I find this photo funny. Sorry Jess.
On the way to meet the guy I was purchasing my secondhand Microeconomics textbook from, we literally ran into Jess in the city. It was odd since this usually never happens to me. Perhaps due to the fact I generally avoid eye contact when travelling in public.

We had some time to kill so we went into Passionflower.

Almost didn't want to post this last picture, too sweet and sappy for my blog. Hah.
The desserts were pretty damn tasty, although I wouldn't go there too often since the lower priced ones are around $10 - $15 bucks. Then Jess had to leave to go study or something, I don't remember. I do remember something pretty funny happened to her, you can ask her if you feel like traumatising her about it.
After Jess left, Selina and I tried to figure out where to go next...
Freakiest thing happened on the way to Prahran. Selina and I were waiting for the Sandringham train when we heard this huge argument coming from the escalator. This older professional lady and a younger woman were having a full blown argument, and when they reached the bottom of the escalator it turned into a huge fight. Not like sissy slaps and stuff. I mean full-on hair-pulling, kicking and clawing, nasty stuff. So anyway the fight came closer and closer to Selina and I, and Selina had to yank me out of the way since I was just standing there watching like the stoner that I am. Actually I was wondering why nobody stopped them...it was a pretty bad case of bystander effect. I would have intervened but trust me, being skinny and not very athletic I don't think I would've done any good, I have the muscle mass of a broomstick.
Anyway by the time security came they were pretty messed up, one of the women was bleeding from her head. Nasty.

Check out this dude's hair. The one behind the pole. Not that I'm judging him, except I do think that he should avoid going out during stormy weather in case the massive amount of static electricity contained in his hair attracts lightning.

When we got to Lucky Coq around 7 it was completely packed, leaving me and Selina standing there like the awkward no-life never-been-to-a-bar losers that we are. We tried waiting for an empty seat but most of them looked like they were gonna be full for a while, and whenever we spotted someone leave we were too slow and another group of people stole the empty spot.
We decided to walk up Chapel St to see if there were any other good bars or spots, but the pickings were pretty meagre. Also we really wanted to go to Lucky Coq, since we'd been looking forward to the $4 pizzas all day, and it's rated pretty high on Urbanspoon.
Also it's around 50m from my uni.

As you can tell by the photos, we managed to get in and finally grab a seat. Strangely enough it was actually thanks to me, I managed to grab a table for Selina and I and then order our food and drinks. I say 'strangely' since most of the time I'm a passive wallflower. I don't do much and definitely don't take charge. This one's a sheep, for life.
After we got a seat the experience was pretty good. I really like the atmosphere, it's laid back and after 10 there's a DJ that plays music. The pizza was interesting; they didn't actually give us what we ordered so we had no idea what we were eating. I just said yes to the waitress since I was so hungry at that point I didn't care what or whose pizza we were given. Although the first pizza doesn't look too appealing I liked it the most; out of the subsequent times I've been to Lucky Coq during my breaks at uni, I've never been able to find it on the menu. Weird.

All in all I had a pretty good time. Seemed like my life turned into a really crappy TV sitcom for just one night.
